The King of Jordan's guard includes fourteen Circassian (Cherkessian) soldiers. It has sworn loyalty to the Hashemite sovereign since the creation of the Arab Emirate of Transjordan in 1921 by Abdallah I of Jordan, great-grandfather of the current sovereign.
